Air Fryer French Toast is a “holy grail” breakfast that is easy enough for the kids to make (with a little help) and just as simple to clean up. Make this Cheesecake Stuffed French Toast recipe for a sweet and indulgent take on a favorite breakfast classic!
Absolutely! Making french toast in my air fryer makes breakfast incredibly fast and easy. Plus, the cleanup is a breeze. When you’re not busy babysitting your french toast in a skillet on the stovetop, it frees up time to make other breakfast sides or enjoy your morning cup of coffee.
My personal favorite kind of bread to use for french toast is brioche. It is buttery, slightly sweet, and absorbs the egg mixture quickly without becoming soggy.
If you don’t have brioche in your pantry, you can always use a sandwich, wheat, or even sliced french bread for your air fryer french toast.
Step 1: Crack Two eggs. Place them into a large bowl or pie plate. Add the salt, pepper, cinnamon, and heavy whipping cream.
Step 2: Grab some parchment paper. This step is optional. Use the parchment paper to line the bottom of your air fryer basket. My air fryer has been VERY loved for about 3 years, so I prefer to use parchment paper to keep the french toast from sticking and to make cleanup easy. They make precut parchment paper specifically precut for different shaped air fryer baskets. If you want a more environmentally friendly option, they also make silicone liners.
Step 3: Get to dipping. Place your brioche bread in the egg mixture and allow it to sit for about 10 seconds on each side. Carefully remove the bread from the eggs and place it on the parchment paper in the air fryer basket.
Step 4: Put your air fryer to work. Cook the air fryer French toast for 5 minutes at 350F.
Step 5: Make the sweet stuff. While the french toast is air frying, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla to create the cheesecake filling.
Step 6: Give it a flip and stuff. Turn the two slices of french toast over on the parchment paper in your air fryer basket. Take your prepared cheesecake filling and spread it thickly and evenly over one of the pieces of air fried french toast.
Step 7: Let it get melty. Pop the air fryer basket back in the air fryer and allow the pieces of French toast to cook for an additional 4 minutes.
Step 8: Make it pretty and enjoy! Remove the two slices of bread from the parchment paper in the air fryer basket and stack them on top of each other to make a “sandwich”. Sprinkle with powdered sugar, add a drizzle of syrup and add some color with fresh seasonal berries.
There are two main reasons your french toast can turn out soggy instead of crispy. They are:
The brioche bread absorbs the egg mixture quickly, so it is best not to let it “soak”. For the best dredge, place the stuffed french toast in the eggs and let it sit for about 5 seconds. Flip the stuffed french toast over and repeat on the opposite side.
It is important to get the time and temperature exactly right for this stuffed french toast. If you cook it at too high of a temperature the outside will cook quickly, leaving the inside raw and soggy. Follow my time and temperatures exactly for the perfect air fried french toast.
This stuffed french toast is incredibly filling, so side dishes are completely optional to make a full meal. If you want to add a little variety to your breakfast table or feed a crowd, here are some of my favorite things to serve with it:
If you have leftovers or wish to make your air fryer french toast ahead of time, you can expect it to last up to 2 days after preparing it if you store it in an air-tight container in the refrigerator.
To reheat your stuffed french toast in the air fryer, simply place it back in the air fryer basket and cook at 300F for 2-3 minutes or until warmed through.
Stuffed french toast is guaranteed to be a new family favorite, so if you like to meal prep, you can totally freeze it to reheat later. Frozen air fryer french toast will last up to 6 months in the freezer in a freezer-safe container.
To reheat the frozen french toast, all you need to do is pull it out of the freezer, let it thaw, and then warm it up in the air fryer using the directions for reheating listed above.
