Ingredients To Grab
For a flawless cooking experience, double-check that you have all of these ingredients before you get started:
Precooked Chicken– Rotisserie chicken is a great option to make this recipe a super quick. Precooked shredded chicken also works well if you don’t have leftover rotisserie chicken.
Egg Roll Wrappers– This vessel is packed with delicious creamy and spicy chicken filling and then deep-fried to crispy perfection.
Cream Cheese– Works as the glue that holds the filling together and prevents it from falling out of the egg roll wrappers while frying them.
Hot Sauce– Provides the “buffalo” in these Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls.
Sour Cream– Adds moisture and a lovely tang to the filling.
Shredded Cheese– The cheese becomes gooey and melty while the egg rolls are cooked.
Cilantro (optional)– Gives a pop of color and freshness to each bite.
Ranch Dressing(optional)– Perfect for drizzling and helps cool the heat from the hot sauce.
How To Make Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls
Create the filling. Combine the cooked diced and cooked chicken, cream cheese, sour cream, hot sauce, mozzarella cheese, and optional green onion. Stir until well combined.
Roll the egg rolls. Place 1/3 cup of the buffalo chicken filling in the center of the egg roll wrapper and roll tightly. For step by step instructions and pictures for rolling an egg roll, check out my Cashew Chicken Egg Roll recipe!
Fry to Perfection. Heat a pan of vegetable or canola oil to 350F on your stovetop. Ensure it is deep enough to cover the top of the egg rolls when submerged. Fry for 45-60 seconds, gently rolling with a pair of tongs so that it turns golden brown on all sides. Remove the Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls from the hot oil and place them on a kitchen towel or paper towel to absorb any excess oil.
Garnish, serve, and enjoy! Serve with an optional ranch dressing drizzle and chopped cilantro sprinkle and enjoy!
Air Fryer Instructions
If you want to make these a little more heart-healthy and calorie-conscious (or to keep your kitchen cool in the summer heat), consider making them in your air fryer! Fire up your air fryer and use the steps below for an equally delicious bite:
Preheat your air fryer. Preheat your air fryer to 375F.
Create the filling. Mix all of the ingredients for the filling together.
Roll the egg rolls. Place 1/4 cup of the filling into the center of the egg roll wrapper and roll according to the instructions listed below.
Cook in the air fryer. Spray the buffalo chicken egg rolls with oil and place them in the air fryer basket. Cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through.

Tips And Tricks
This Buffalo Chicken Egg Roll recipe is simple and delicious. Check out some of these helpful tips and tricks to ensure your time in the kitchen is stress-free:
Soften your cream cheese. Soften the cream cheese before creating your filling for easier mixing. Cold cream cheese can be hard to stir.
Shred your cheese. Bags of shredded cheese can be a lifesaver in a pinch, but for the ultimate melty bite, consider shredding your own for the egg roll filling.
Adjust the heat. Remember that a little hot sauce goes a long way. Start with half of the hot sauce recommended for this recipe and add a little at a time until it reaches your desired spiciness.
Variations
Sure, these spicy egg rolls are delicious the way the recipe is written, but playing with your food is always fun! Try some of these variations the next time you’re ready to whip up some egg rolls:
Swap out the sauce. I like to keep things spicy, but if you’re not always a fan of the heat, consider swapping out the hot sauce with BBQ sauce, salsa, or enchilada sauce.
Use a different cheese. Mozzarella or Colby jack are the cheeses we usually keep in our fridge, but if you want to spice things up with pepper jack or keep it melty with Monterey jack, go right ahead.
Try a different protein. Try cooked ground chicken, diced and cooked bacon, or even ground beef to switch up the flavors of your egg rolls.
What To Eat With Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls
This tasty flavor fusion may have you stumped when it comes time to turn it into a meal. Here are a few things that are perfect for serving as side dishes or dipping sauces:
Carrots and Celery– A classic pairing for buffalo wings, these veggies are a quick and easy accompaniment to your spicy egg rolls.
Blue Cheese Dressing– A dipping sauce that packs a delightful tang.
Coleslaw– This side dish is cooling, creamy, and family-friendly.
Salad– The freshness of a side salad pairs well with the richness of these egg rolls.
Storage And Reheating
If you make too many egg rolls or want to make them ahead to enjoy later, they reheat really well! When stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator, they can last up to 3 days.
To reheat them, you can either zap them in the microwave for 60-90 seconds or pop them in the air fryer at 350F for 3-4 minutes until warmed through and crispy.
If you want to freeze your leftovers, they can last up to 3-4 months in a freezer-safe container. Place them in the refrigerator to defrost overnight before reheating according to the instructions listed above.
