Whether you’re hosting friends for the next big game or want to whip something up for your hungry family on a busy week night, this Buffalo Chicken Pull Apart Bread is a simple and super tasty option! With a combination of creamy and spicy buffalo chicken and tender, flaky biscuits anyone you’re cooking for is guaranteed to love this incredibly simple cheesy bread recipe.
It’s Easy. Prepare my buffalo chicken dip recipe, dice up some refrigerated biscuit dough, layer it all in a pan, and bake until it’s golden brown and melty.
People Love It. Who doesn’t love buffalo chicken dip? Pair it with tender flaky biscuits and rich garlic butter and you have a pull apart bread that is almost impossible to resist.
It’s Versatile. Use one of my suggested variations below to create completely different, but still amazing flavor combinations to wow guests at your next party or tailgate.
You Can Feed A Crowd. A hearty combination of protein, fats, and carbs, this recipe is guaranteed to feed the hungriest group of family and friends.
Want to make something that is sure to impress your guests without buying a ton of ingredients at the grocery store? This recipe uses a ton of my usual recipe staples, so hopefully you’ll have most of them in your kitchen already as well!
Chicken Breast- You can also swap the breasts out with chicken thighs.
Cream Cheese- This keeps the biscuit dough moist and works as glue to hold the pull apart bread together.
Frank’s Red Hot- You can use any hot sauce or wing sauce you prefer, but Frank’s is by far my favorite.
Sour Cream- Thins the dips slightly so it is easier to dollop between pieces of biscuit dough.
Shredded Cheese- Shredded mozzarella cheese is my go-to but it would be just as delicious with a colby jack blend or pepper jack cheese.
Refrigerated Biscuits- You can buy the expensive ones if you absolutely feel the need, but honestly, for this Buffalo Chicken Pull Apart Bread, you can use the cheapest brand. If you know me, you know I’m a sucker for store-brand groceries.
Minced Garlic- I like to keep a jar of minced garlic in my refrigerator so I don’t have to peel and chop it every time a recipe calls for it. If you don’t mind the extra work, fresh is always best.
Butter- The sodium content in the hot sauce and the cheese is significant, so to reduce the amount of sodium in this dish, reach for unsalted butter.
Cook and Shred the Chicken. I prefer to cook my chicken in the Instant Pot because it’s quick and hands-off. Here are directions to cook it in the Instant Pot or on the stove top depending on which kitchen gadgets you have:
Regardless of the cooking method used, allow the chicken to cool until it can be comfortable handled, and then use two forks to shred it into bite sized pieces.
Prepare the Buffalo Chicken Filling. In a bowl, combine the shredded chicken, cream cheese, sour cream, and mozzarella cheese. Stir until it is well combined.
Cut Up the Biscuits. Open the can of biscuits and separate them. Place them on a cutting board and use a pizza cutter to cut the biscuits into 1/2” pieces.
Layer the Ingredients. Spray a 8×8” or loaf pan with nonstick spray and begin layering the ingredients. Place 1/4 of the biscuits in the pan along with 1/4 of the buffalo dip separated into tablespoon dollops. Repeat the layers until all of the ingredients have been used.
Bake It Up. Melt the butter and stir in the minced garlic. Brush the top of the layered Buffalo Chicken Pull Apart Bread with half of the butter and garlic mixture. Sprinkle it with more mozzarella cheese. Bake at 350F for 15-18 minutes or until the dough is cooked through and it is golden brown on top.
Serve and Enjoy! Brush the cooked cheesy bread with the remaining melted butter before serving.
Use rotisserie chicken. For unexpected guests or a quick game-time snack, consider using precooked rotisserie chicken while creating your buffalo chicken dip. This will cut the cooking time in half!
Slice with a pizza cutter. While it might not seem like much of a time-saving technique, you would be surprised at how much easier it is to cut your refrigerated biscuit dough with a pizza cutter. They don’t have to be perfect, just similar in size. So, stack a couple of biscuits on top of each other and get to slicing!
Grease the pan well. Nothing will put a damper on your party faster than a stuck-on bite that keeps you from enjoying every second of the big game. Make sure you use plenty of nonstick spray
Swap out the sauce. Not a fan of spice? You can create this exact same Buffalo Chicken Pull Apart Bread recipe with a different sauce for a more family-friendly flavor. Try this with BBQ sauce, pesto, or even marinara sauce. Don’t be afraid to get creative and try your own flavor combinations.
Use a different protein. Buffalo Chicken is a classic flavor combination, but other proteins would be just as tasty in this recipe. Consider ground chicken, beef, or pork. You can even try grilled or smoked meats in this dish as long as they are cooked to a safe temperature before adding them to the pull-apart bread.
Pick a fun pan. I used an 8×8” pan for this dish because it was clean and the right size. I have pretty low standards for my choices in the kitchen. If you want a more fun presentation, you can use a bundt pan or any other pan that keeps the dough and buffalo chicken filling compact enough to bake together into a loaf to be pulled apart. Remember, once everyone starts digging in, it’s not going to be pretty anyway.
Get to Dipping. If want a more intense buffalo flavor, you can dip it in more hot sauce. If the heat is a bit too much for your palate, you can dip it in ranch dressing or blue cheese dressing. Feeling extra creative? Drizzle a little honey over the top for a unique sweet and spicy flavor combination.
Make it a Meal. As much as this makes a tasty appetizer, it can also double as a fun meal for the the family! Serve with with sides like French fries, macaroni and cheese, or your family’s favorite variety of veggies for more rounded meal.
Prepare a Spread. Sometimes we like to make large appetizer spreads for big tailgating or holiday parties and serve a variety of appetizers for people to pick at all evening instead of making a big meal. Serve this alongside your other favorite appetizers instead of planning an elaborate meal when you have guests with varying tastes.
This Buffalo Chicken Pull Apart Bread contains a significant amount of dairy, so it does have a shorter shelf life than some of my other appetizer recipes.
For the best bite, I suggest storing leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. While it may still be safe to eat for an additional day or two, the texture of the biscuit dough will change significantly.
Do you have more Buffalo Chicken bread than you can manage to eat in one sitting? No problem! It’s tasty reheated as well! You can either pop it back in a 300F oven for 10-15 minutes or you can cut it into smaller pieces and warm it in the air fryer at 275F for 15 minutes.
These times can vary depending on how much you have leftover, so watch it closely while reheating it to avoid burning the dough and drying out the chicken.
If you love this Buffalo Chicken Pull Apart Bread recipe as much as I do, make sure you share it with your friends so they can make it too!
