Whether you’re trying to stretch your budget, save some time, or mimic your favorite takeout, this Instant Pot Ramen Noodle recipe is a go-to recipe for days that you’re craving comfort food.
You may be thinking “Why on Earth would I cook ramen noodles in an Instant Pot when I can just cook them on the stove in a few minutes?”
Well, there are a few reasons I decided to go the Instant Pot route.
Would you believe me if I said it takes zero minutes? Because that’s exactly how long it takes to cook them under pressure.
You’ll only need 6 ingredients to make a super flavorful dish. Don’t forget to check out some other flavor combinations you can try farther down in the recipe! Here’s what I put in mine:
While this recipe uses a couple of different Instant Pot functions, I promise you the steps to make this ramen is incredibly simple.
Step 1: Cook the chicken. Turn your Instant Pot to saute and add a small amount of oil. Once the oil is hot, place the diced chicken into the Instant Pot liner and saute until golden brown and cooked thoroughly. Turn your Instant Pot off.
Step 2: Add the noodles and veggies. Use a cup of water to deglaze the bottom of the liner so that you do not get a Burn warning. Break the bricks of ramen in half and place them in the liner on top of the cooked chicken. Add two cups of water for each package of ramen. Add the flavor packets and stir. Place your uncooked broccoli on top of the noodles.
Step 3: Cook the Ramen. Place the lid on your Instant Pot. Cook under high pressure. Once the cooking time is complete, quickly release the remaining pressure.
Step 4: Season it up. If you’re content with the flavor that comes from the packet of instant ramen, you can skip this step, but the seasoning packets leave a little to be desired for me. I like to add soy sauce, salt, pepper, and a little bit of sesame oil before serving.
Step 5: Eat up! Garnish and serve your Instant Pot Ramen.
To get this dish on the table in under 30 minutes, I use precooked hardboiled eggs. I didn’t include instructions in this recipe, but if you need a great guide on making Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs, check out this great article by my friends over at Savory Experiments.
If you haven’t jumped on the Instant Pot bandwagon yet, you can still enjoy this tasty Instant Pot Ramen. Here are the steps you’ll follow if you’re making it on the stovetop:
Step 1: Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a large pot for each packet of instant ramen noodles you plan on cooking. Break the bricks of ramen noodles in half and submerge them in water. Cook for 1 minute or until the pasta can be separated into individual noodles but is still firm. Remove the pot from the hot burner.
Step 2: Stir in the seasoning packets that come with the instant ramen. Place broccoli florets on top of the noodles and place a lid on top of your pot for an additional 5-7 minutes. This will steam the broccoli.
Step 3: While the broccoli is steaming, season the chunked chicken with salt and pepper. In a skillet, saute the chunked chicken with a small amount of olive oil until it reaches an internal temperature of 165F.
Step 4: Add noodles, broth, and broccoli to a serving bowl. Top with the sauteed chicken and hard-boiled egg (make these ahead with the instructions listed above). Add additional seasonings such as soy sauce, sesame oil, red chili paste, or ginger.
Depending on your childhood or college days, you may or may not have had to slurp a bowl of ramen more than you wanted. If those memories have you wanting to skip this recipe, don’t. This isn’t the same boring noodles and broth ramen that you remember. I used other flavorful, nutritious, and filling ingredients to amp up that boring packet of instant ramen.
Here are a few things that you can add to yours to create the perfect ramen bowl:
If you’re not particularly picky about the texture of your pasta, you can make this ahead of time, or save any leftover noodles to reheat later. Unfortunately, the instant ramen cooks extremely fast and has a tendency to become mushy if it sits in the broth for too long or if it is overcooked.
So, for the best results, I would recommend enjoying this Instant Pot Ramen as soon as you cook it.

Turn your Instant Pot to saute and add a small amount of oil. Once the oil is hot, place the diced chicken into the Instant Pot liner and saute for 4 minutes or until golden brown and cooked thoroughly. Turn your Instant Pot off.
Place the lid on your Instant Pot. Cook under high pressure for 0 minutes. If the model of Instant Pot you have will not allow you to set the timer to 0 minutes, simply set the timer to one minute and hit cancel once the Pot comes to pressure (you'll hear a beep, and the digital screen will say "1"). Once the cooking time is complete, quickly release the remaining pressure.
