Ingredients To Grab For Lamb Sliders
For an effortlessly quick cooking experience, double-check for these ingredients in your kitchen before you get started:
Brioche Slider Buns– Used as the base and top for the sliders, providing a soft, slightly sweet, and buttery bread that complements the savory ground lamb.
Ground Lamb– The primary ingredient for the filling, offering a rich and slightly gamey flavor that pairs well with bold spices.
Cilantro– Adds a fresh, herbaceous note as a garnish or mix into the lamb mixture, providing a bright contrast to the rich flavors.
Red Onion– Adds crunch and a slightly sweet, sharp flavor, thinly sliced as a topping.
Garam Masala– A spice blend that adds warmth, complexity, and a touch of sweetness to the ground lamb, enhancing its aromatic flavor.
Olive Oil– Helps toast the buns to give another element of flavor and texture.
Salt– Enhances the natural flavors of the lamb and other ingredients for a well-balanced taste.
Black Pepper– Adds subtle heat and depth to the lamb mixture, complementing the spices and providing a slight kick.
How To Make Lamb Sliders
Brown the ground lamb. Warm a skillet over medium heat and add in the ground lamb. Use a spatula to break apart the ground lamb while cooking to a beautiful golden brown.
Add in the spices. When the lamb is mostly cooked, add in the garam masala, salt, and pepper. Stir well and continue cooking until no pink remains.
Toast the buns. Remove the cooked lamb from the skillet and add in the olive oil. Once warm, place the slider buns into the skillet and allow the inside portions to toast to a golden brown.
Assemble the sliders. Remove the brioche slider buns from the skillet and place them on a plate. Top with a generous portion of the seasoned lamb mixture. Top with sliced red onion and fresh cilantro, serve, and enjoy!
Tips and Tricks
As with most of my recipes, there aren’t a ton of tips and tricks for this one because it only involves a few simple steps! Here are a few pointers for kitchen beginners or newbies with cooking with spice:
Cook thoroughly. As with any ground protein, ensure you cook the ground lamb until there is no pink remaining for food safety reasons.
Adjust spice. If you’re new to using spices or have a sensitive palate or stomach, I would suggest starting small. Start with half of the amount of garam masala listed and gradually add more until it reaches your desired flavor. Garam masala is NOT A SPICY SPICE. It is a warming spice blend, packed with notes of cinnamon, cumin, clove, and nutmeg. So, while it won’t burn your face off if you over-do it, it can be overly fragrant and overpowering.
Garnish mindfully. Depending on where you live, lamb can be a bit of a splurge for your grocery budget. Remember that you want to enjoy the natural gamey flavor of the protein. Piling the garnishes on high can take away from the lovely flavor of the meat, so use them sparingly.
Variations
Even though these lamb burgers are packed with flavor with the ingredients I used, there are a multitude of ways to switch up the flavors and ingredients to make it the perfect weeknight meal for your family. Here are some of our favorite ways to modify them:
Swap out the protein. Some people prefer not to eat lamb; even if you do, it can be more expensive than ground beef or chicken. All you need to do is cook any ground protein and add in the spices as listed in the recipe for an equally tasty bite.
Get creative with garnish. Try any variety of pickled vegetables, fresh cabbage or carrot slaw, or even cooling raita for an extra flavor boost.
Add in veggies. Finely dice onion, eggplant, or bell pepper and add it to your ground lamb while cooking for an extra nutrient boost and flavor.
What To Eat With Lamb Sliders
These tasty mini lamb burgers are a lovely flavor fusion of some of our favorite cuisines! Since they borrow ingredients and tastes from various countries, the options for pairing are endless! Here are a few tasty options to choose from:
French Fries– An American classic that pairs well with any burger, no matter the protein used.
Tzatziki– A refreshingly tangy and creamy sauce that compliments the intense flavor of the garam masala.
Cucumber Salad– A fresh bite to cut the richness of the lamb and add a little more nutrition to your plate.
Make Ahead And Storage
If you have leftovers or want to make a meal ahead of time, these sliders are delicious as leftovers! Simply store the cooked ground lamb separate from the buns in airtight containers so they don’t get soggy. The flavor and texture should stay as tasty as the day they were prepared for up to 4 days.
If you won’t be able to enjoy your leftovers in that short timeframe, you can also freeze them for later. The cooked lamb should last 3-4 months when stored in a freezer-safe container.
When you’re ready to enjoy the mini lamb burgers, place the meat in the refrigerator overnight to defrost. Simmer it in a skillet on the stovetop with a few tablespoons of water for 5-7 minutes or until warmed through. Serve on freshly toasted slider buns and garnish before enjoying.
