What Should Be In A S’mores Bar

Who doesn’t love a recipe with minimal ingredients? These No Bake S’mores Bars only require four ingredients, and they’re likely items you already have in your kitchen if you’re a s’mores lover! Here’s what you’ll need to grab before you get started:

Golden Grahams– These give the delicious flavor of honey graham crackers that won’t get soggy when combined with the other ingredients.

Mini Marshmallows– I prefer the small ones because they melt more evenly and quickly for a super quick and easy dessert.

Butter– Prevent these bars from being too sticky to eat and gives a hint of saltiness to balance out the sweetness of the No Bake S’mores Bars.

Chocolate Bars– I’m a huge fan of Hershey’s bars (who isn’t?). The fun sized bars have the cutest little chocolate bar segments, but any size or brand chocolate bars will work.

How To Make No Bake S’mores Bars

Have you ever made No Bake Cookies or Rice Krispies Treats? The method for making these chocolate and marshmallow cereal bars is incredibly similar! Just follow the steps below for a recipe that is so simple even the kids can make it—or at least help.

Melt the butter and add marshmallows. Add the butter to a large pot and allow it to melt over low heat. Once the butter is melted (but not browned) add the marshmallows. Stir constantly until they are melted and incorporated into the butter.

Add in the Golden Graham cereal. Add the cereal one cup at a time until it is all coated with the marshmallow glaze. Remove from the stove and allow to it to begin to cool while you’re preparing the chocolate.

Chop up the chocolate. Chop up the chocolate bars into chunks.

Spray the pan and start layering. Place half of the marshmallow coated cereal in the bottom of a greased 9×13 inch pan. Place a sheet of parchment paper over the top of the cereal and gently press it into the bottom of the pan. This will prevent it from sticking to your hands and making it difficult to work with. Sprinkle half of the chocolate chunks on top of the cereal. Top these two ingredients with 1/2 cup of mini marshmallows.

Repeat the layers. Add the remaining cereal mixture and then the remainder of the chocolate chunks along with another 1/2 cup of mini marshmallows. Use the parchment paper you used for the previous layer to press the rest of the No Bake S’mores Bars together.

Let it cool, serve, and enjoy! Discard the parchment paper and cover the baking dish to prevent the cereal from becoming stale. Allow to rest for 30 minutes to an hour before cutting and serving for easy to enjoy no bake dessert bars.

Tips And Tricks

This No Bake S’mores Bar recipe is so incredibly simple, there’s not much more I can offer to make it an easier process, but there are a few tips that you’ll want to make sure you follow while you’re in the kitchen to make them turn out perfectly every time!

Spray the casserole dish. Spray the baking dish with nonstick spray before you being layering the ingredients. This will prevent the marshmallow covered cereal from sticking to the sides and bottom and making the bars hard to get out of the pan.

Pack it in tight. Use parchment paper to firmly press the cereal mixture into the pan. Tightly packed bars will be easier to serve and store. If they are loosely packed, they are more likely to fall apart when you eat them. While s’mores are meant to be messy, you can keep it to a minimum with just a little extra work.

Cut them small. These cereal dessert bars are RICH! While they’re delicious enough to want to eat the whole pan, small servings seem to go over better in our home so you can have just a little nibble when you’re craving something sweet without overdoing it.

Variations

Looking for ways to switch things up to create new flavors or incorporate some other ingredients you might have in your pantry already? Use some of these suggestions or create some of your own for a tasty little treat that your family will want you to make again and again.

Use chocolate chips. If you keep baking morsels in your pantry or freezer, you can use them instead of chocolate bars to avoid making a special trip to the grocery store. Just layer them in instead of the chopped up chocolate bar chunks.

Swap out the morsels. Not a huge fan of milk chocolate? You can swap out the chocolate bar chunks with white chocolate morsels, peanut butter morsels, mini Andes mint morsels, or even butterscotch morsels for a new and exciting bite.

Add peanut butter. If you love the flavor of peanut butter, add in 1/4 cup of creamy peanut butter when you’re combining the butter and melted marshmallows.

How Long Do No Bake S’mores Bars Last?

While these No Bake S’mores Bars can last up to a week if kept covered. However, the sooner you enjoy them, the better. Over time, the moisture from the butter and the melted marshmallows can change the texture of the Golden Grahams cereal.

For the best results, I would recommend enjoying these cereal bar treats within 2-3 days of preparing them. Don’t worry, they’re so delicious it shouldn’t be much of a challenge!
