  • Delicious. Creamy, savory, slightly sweet, and utterly crave-worthy.

Let’s Talk Ingredients

How often do you find a recipe where you can count the ingredients needed on one hand? If you’re looking for something that is packed with flavor, it’s extremely rare.

So, whether you’re on a budget or just like a meal that is super simple to prepare and cook, this is the recipe for you.

  • Refrigerated Biscuits– Use any brand of large refrigerated biscuits. I prefer the store brand (I almost always reach for the store brand when I cook), just make sure they’re not the tiny little “hockey puck” biscuits that come in four packs.
  • Ground Sausage– Ok, y’all. All sausage is not created equal. My kids adore breakfast meats, so I tried the store brand for this to try to keep my grocery bill down. Hard fail. We always reach for Jimmy Dean Country Mild. I don’t get paid to say this–we just really love the flavor.
  • Cream Cheese– Makes these Sausage and Cream Cheese Biscuits creamy and tangy.
  • Shredded Cheese– I prefer the bite of sharp cheddar, but you can use any shredded cheese you happen to have in your refrigerator.

How To Make Sausage Cream Cheese Biscuits

This recipe is so simple! It is a dish that even the smallest hands can help make, whether it be pressing the biscuit dough or mixing up the cream cheese topping. Follow these simple steps for perfectly cooked Sausage Biscuit Bites every time!

Step 1: Cook the sausage. Brown the ground sausage in a skillet and drain the renderings.

Step 2: Make the cream cheese mixture. In a large bowl, mix together the cooked ground sausage, softened cream cheese, and cheddar cheese.

Step 3: Place the biscuits in a muffin pan. Spray a muffin tin with nonstick spray and press a biscuit into the bottom of each muffin tin.

Step 4: Top the biscuits with the sausage and cream cheese mixture. Scoop a generous portion of the cream cheese and sausage mixture onto the top of the biscuits inside the muffin tins.

Step 5: Bake. Bake at 350 for 18 minutes.

Step 6: Serve and enjoy! Remove from the oven, pop the sausage cream cheese biscuits out of the muffin tins, and serve.

Sausage and Cream Cheese Biscuit Variations

These sausage and cream cheese biscuits are to die for, and you should definitely try them as the recipe is written.

However, being a mom that hates grocery shopping, I totally understand that life happens and that sometimes you need to make some swaps to make a recipe work. So, if you are looking for swaps to make this dish work with what you have at home, here are some ideas:

  • Switch out the protein. If you don’t have ground sausage in your fridge, you can swap out cooked ground beef or cooked bacon.
  • Use crescent rolls. For a lighter, flakier base to this dish that will have a similar flavor, you can line the muffin tins with refrigerated crescent roll dough.
  • Make them mini. To serve as a bite-sized appetizer, cut your biscuits in half before adding them to the muffin tins.

What To Serve With Them

Sausage and Cream Cheese Biscuits are often served as an appetizer. They are great for football tailgating and holiday parties. I’ve found that they can double as a great busy weeknight dinner. Here are some of my favorite sides to serve with them to make it a complete meal:

How Long Do They Last?

Sausage and Cream Cheese Biscuits are a great meal prep recipe! They are inexpensive to make, warm up easily and can be frozen to enjoy later.

For the best bite, try to enjoy these sausage biscuit bites within 3-4 days of preparing them. If frozen, defrost, reheat, and enjoy within 3 months.
